Diabetic Approved Footwear
Diabetes can seriously affect the eyes, heart, kidneys and feet. When elevated blood sugar levels lead to the deterioration of the tiny blood vessels responsible for delivering oxygen and nutrients to the nerves of the feet, neuropathy results. Neuropathy gives rise to tingling, pain and loss of sensation in the feet. Many neuropathic diabetic patients do not detect injuries to the feet that give rise to tissue loss or life-threatening infection that may be treated only by amputation.
Our Fit Specialists are trained to properly fit diabetic patients with accommodative footwear that keeps external pressures upon the superficial surfaces of the foot to a minimum. This prevents ingrown toenails, callusing, ulceration and amputation.
